Youth Directions is a non-profit organization based in Golden, Colorado that guides youth to discover their productive passions, their unique, positive purpose, their talents, and their inborn vocations. In a unique six-step consultative process with a qualified coach, Youth Directions helps adolescents find, set, and achieve long-term goals based on their personal passions and unique, positive purpose.
Once youth have found their unique, positive purpose through the process, Youth Directions sets up mentoring relationships for youth to help them succeed at their long-term goals.

The Premise of the Program |

The program is built around the premise that each person has a unique, positive and individualized purpose in life that, when uncovered, becomes an unlimited source of forward-moving motivation. Youth Directions is committed to helping young people visualize, define, and then pursue a purpose-driven life.
The program is delivered in a positive and highly customized manner, identifying the passions and talents in each individual. By focusing on our youths’ passions, purposes and long-term goals, we succeed where other youth programs have fallen short.

The Issue Youth Directions Addresses |
|
“Failure to launch” and “boomerang kids” describe the phenomenon of young adults in their twenties and thirties returning to live with their parents without a clear direction. This is an issue for all segments of society, but it affects the economically disadvantaged in greater numbers. The core of the problem is what one sociologist referred to as, “the changing timetable for adulthood.” Leading psychologists (Stanford University’s William Damon and others) suggest that the reason for this prolonged state of developmental limbo is the collective lack of youth purpose. It is this contemporary monumental malaise that Youth Directions is trying to address. |
